Hello and welcome to our home!
For years Steven and I (Mr. & Mrs. Catholic Comedy) have dreamed of living a simpler life closer to nature and God. Only problem was that we were what you might call "city slickers" with absolutely no knowledge of anything harder than feeding a dog and changing a diaper. We lived in a small home that we deemed our "forever home" that we bought when we had 3 kids and no real semblance of faith.
Then God happened and boy did He flip our lives around!
We decided to attempt to go back to church as we were both raised Catholic. I was hesitant since I felt I no longer belonged. Steven on the other hand can be a "jump all in" kind of guy and we were thrust into the realm of Catholic culture, music, Knights meetings, RCIA, baptismal classes, Mass, and marriage prep to get our marriage convalidated. Sacraments were being flung at us left and right and it was AWESOME!
Two years and 2 babies later, we found ourselves in the midst of Covid and a desire for even deeper faith. That is when we discovered and fell in love with the Traditional Latin Mass. Now we have been attending the TLM for 2.5 years and have been loving every second!
This desire to go deeper also gave us a desire to go simpler.
In April of 2022 we were blessed with the opportunity to get our own homestead in San Tan Valley, Arizona, on 3.6 acres of land.
"Let's ease into this," I thought.
"Let's wait at least a month before we get any animals," I said.
"We need to manage the land and buy infrastructure to ensure a solid and safe foundation," my naive brain insisted.
Within one month we were mostly moved in and had accumulated dozens of chickens and at least 2 goats! So much for slow and steady.
Upon creation of this blog, we are in October of 2022 and have 60 plus animals including goats, chickens, geese, ducks, a jersey calf, 4 dogs, 5 pigs, 6 sheep, and a very beautiful pony named Rapunzel.
Our life is drastically different and we have faced so many challenges from our poodle killing dozens of animals, new animals born, terrorizing by hawks, and 2 miscarriages. Amidst it all, God has blessed us with so much knowledge and a chance to grow!
We homeschool our 3 oldest children and loving our time with them! Life is such a great educator and our life has become less convenient in the best of ways! Our family now drinks goat milk, makes cheese and yogurt, and bakes bread multiple times per week! What a beautiful life we live!
We look forward to having you join us, all our crazy children and even our gaggle of animals on this journey to live our little lives with great love!
